Next court hearing for Sabres forward O’Reilly is September 10
His lawyer appeared on his behalf.
The case of Buffalo Sabres star Ryan O’Reilly, charged with impaired driving following a crash last month outside a Tim Hortons in Lucan, has been put over until next month. That’s when a green pickup truck struck the side of a coffee shop and restaurant and then drove away.
The 24-year-old forward who was traded to the Sabres from the Colorado Avalanche in late June, was charged with “driving a motor vehicle while ability impaired” and “failing to remain at the scene of an accident”.
The incident comes a few weeks after O’Reilly signed a seven year $52.5 million contact extension with the Sabres.
O’Reilly had deactivated his twitter account following his arrest.
The Sabres acquired O’Reilly and energy forward Jamie McGinn from Colorado in exchange for Mikhail Grigorenko, Nikita Zadorov, prospect JT Compher and the 31st overall pick in the 2015 National Hockey League Draft.
However, O’Reilly didn’t appear in person.
The decision was made Thursday morning during O’Reilly’s first hearing in London, Ontario, court. He is resulting from make $6.2 million subsequent season.
Now O’Reilly is set to appear in court on September 10, according to AM 980 in Ontario. AM980 will have a reporter at the court.
