Praise Yeezus: Kanye West Is Now Headlining FYF Fest
Kanye West has stepped in to headline FYF Fest after Frank Ocean cancelled his appearance.
Another tweet from the festival’s account read that Ocean had cancelled his headlining appearance, but did not disclose a reason for his absence.
Other musicians performing on the Saturday include Bloc Party, Chet Faker, The Jesus & Mary Chain and Purity Ring.
Rumors of Ocean’s long-awaited follow-up album to his sensational debut, Channel Orange, bubbled up in April with a vague Tumblr post.
The 12th annual FYF Fest kicks off Saturday with Tennis, Dinosaur Jr., Run the Jewels and more before West closes out night.
For the past month fans have wondered, loudly, when he would release new music after dropping hints that a date was imminent. It also announced a magazine published by Ocean called Boys Don’t Cry that was accompanied with a #JULY2015 release.
Since his breakout, Ocean has remained surprisingly low-key – minus that weird beef with Chipotle – issuing little music, save for a few one-offs, or any information about new works. As of Thursday, two-day tickets and VIP passes for the festival were still available, although single-day tickets had long since sold out.
