Bills vs. Browns, NFL preseason Week 2: second half live chat
He was dressed for the game, but all along there were no plans to play QB Matt Cassel Thursday night.
No word at this point as to how the quarterback rotation will work for Buffalo’s next preseason game against Pittsburgh.
The Bills are still trying find their answer at quarterback. Thursday night, though, he collected his second interception of the preseason, picking off Josh McCown in the first half. Rex Ryan clearly wanted to take the longest look possible at Taylor working with what’s left of the starting offense. He had a nice opening drive that resulted in a missed field goal.
But, facing 3rd-and-6, Taylor was sacked by Paul Kruger putting an end to the drive.
Eventually he took enough hits and was knocked out of the game.
“We did some good things”, Taylor told BuffaloBills.com. “Of course we would have preferred to come out with seven points on a couple of those drives but we were able to move the ball up and down the field. There’s a couple of things we did out there we can learn from”.
He showed command of the offense, extended plays with his feet and spread the ball around despite playing without the team’s top three receivers. Despite his flaws, he has demonstrated that he is the most athletic and dynamic player of the bunch, and gives them the most flexibility with playcalling. “They went out there and made players and that’s all you can ask from the guys”. After the game concluded, the Redskins announced Griffin suffered a concussion.
Both fared well. Taylor went 7-for-10 passing for 65 yards and Manuel completed 9 of 14 passes for 111 yards and one touchdown, impressive stat lines given that top receivers Sammy Watkins, Robert Woods and Percy Harvin all were held out because of injuries and the next man up, Chris Hogan, was carted off in the first quarter with an ankle injury.
