Real time live-action first person shooter trialed online
The video – which has already been viewed nearly 1.5 million times – shows unsuspecting Chatroulette users controlling the actions of a real-action, first-person-perspective video game protagonist.
British film company Realm Pictures assembled a crew, went online with a “real life” first person shooter experience, and invited the internet to play along with some interesting results.
They obviously know their games – we particularly like the little Doom-style face at the bottom of the screen – and the production values are impressively high.
A man named David Reynolds has found an innovative way to put Chatroulette to use by creating an IRL first person shooting game, and inviting unsuspecting Chatroulette users to play, all the while recording the proceedings.
Take a look at the behind the scenes video below as well, as it’s all clever stuff. According to Reynolds, there were about 30 people involved. “It was a great weekend – really good atmosphere, everybody had a lot of fun I think”.
The company’s offices are actually based in the church you see in the video, including the mausoleum where the level begins.
