Packers TE Andrew Quarless arrested in Miami for firing gun
The Miami Beach Police Department confirms that Packers tight end Andrew Quarless was arrested overnight after firing a gun in public.
Quarless is still in police custody.
Miami Beach Police say a witness reported that Quarless was riding in a black Porsche with three other people around 5 a.m. Saturday when they pulled up to a auto full of women.
The report also notes that one of the women believes that Quarless fired the gun in an “attempt to emphasize his dominance and manhood”. More information should be available, he says, when he is cleared to release an incident report later today.
Press-Gazette Media of Green Bay, Wisconsin, reports Quarless’ arrest is the second incident for the team this week. Quarless has been with the Green Bay Packers since being selected in the fifth round of the 2010 National Football League Draft. The men approached another vehicle containing several women.
Quarless, 26, had the best year of his four-year career in 2015 with 323 receiving yards and three touchdown receptions.
Quarless is charged only with a misdemeanor, but that won’t matter to 345 Park Avenue. Shortly after stopping, Quarless got into an argument with one of the women, who shouted, “No, get away, leave me alone”.
According to the police report, Quarless produced the gun and fired two shots, one straight into the sky. Quarless was soon found trying to hide in front of Siena Tavern, police say, “attempting to conceal himself and a black firearm in a nearby plant”. Police matched rounds from the gun to those found near the parking garage.
The tight end could be subject to discipline under the NFL’s Personal Conduct Policy, pending the resolution of the chargers.
