Samsung releases full teaser for upcoming Gear S2 smartwatch
The new wearable definitely looks more sophisticated and polished from what we’ve seen from Samsung earlier.
Samsung has already revealed its plans to unveil the Gear S2 smartwatch at IFA on September 3.
The teaser video also showcased a few apps running on the Gear S2.
Amidst the pile of hastily written hands-on “reviews” of Samsungs latest phablet line up, a crucial and tantalising piece of tech news went unnoticed as reviewers who’d barely spent any time at all with the Galaxy S6 Edge+ or Note 5 clambered to get their opinions published.
The Samsung Gear S2 is the first smartwatch from Samsung to feature a round display, the company has yet to announce the specifications on the device.
TechCrunch reported the device is also “smaller and more fashionable” than the previously released Samsung Gear S. It gives a sneak peek into some apps such as weather, time zone, stopwatch and sports tracking.
The watch even flashed “Keep it up!” to motivate users during their run or any form of exercise. However, that does not require a smartphone to work fully so we expect the Orbis to be cheaper and more in-line with rivals such as the Moto 360 and G Watch R which cost around £200.
The interface looks much better too, since it’s actually optimised to make the most of the device – rather than simply being a shrunken phone as the Gear S was.
The previous iteration of the Gear S was a monstrous, ugly-looking beast, but it included an onscreen keyboard that you could use to send a text message from your wrist. “It will be hard to squeeze a keyboard on a rounded smartwatch”, points out Techcrunch.
According to TechRadar, there are still a lot of applications which cannot be recognised for now but will reportedly be a big part of the Samsung watch.
Like the Apple Watch, the Gear S2 features a number of round icons for controlling different apps.
By next month, the public will be able to realize that this Samsung device is potentially more powerful than that offered by Apple.
