Nathan Oduwa’s show angers Alloa as Rangers cruise
Hamilton suggested other Championship defenders might not take so kindly to such displays but Warburton wants the teenager to try out his skills on the park.
Having helped England under-21 global Alex Pritchard develop his game last season at the west London club, Warburton had been expected to return to Tottenham to strengthen his Rangers side ahead of their push for promotion back to the Scottish Premier League (SPL).
Warburton also handed a debut to Nathan Oduwa, an arrival from Tottenham last week, and the gifted winger played a pivotal role in Miller’s strike to make it 5-1.
“There was no lack of respect from one player to another, there was no showboating”.
“I feel sorry for him picking up papers and seeing headlines about a lack of respect and taking the whatever out of players”.
But Warburton said: “If Lionel Messi did that everyone would be on their feet”.
“He’s a young guy who came on with a smile on his face, loads of talent, keen to impress and play well and he made a difference when he came on”.
“I can’t tell any player how to play, it’s his decision”.
Do a search on Twitter for “Oduwa” and you will be overwhelmed by Rangers fans gushing about this kid and begging for a permanent transfer.
“He’s a respectful young guy and he was just enjoying his football”. I can’t believe some of the comments that have been made.
Rangers’ Nathan Oduwa upset Alloa defender Colin Hamilton with some fancy footwork.
Oduwa and Ball however, will aim to show Pochettino what they are capable of as the Argentine manager continues to put his faith in youth in North London.
“He’s a bit bemused, if I’m being honest”, Warburton said. That wouldn’t happen down south but he now understands it’s different here.
“But he was gob-smacked this morning”.
“But Lee, from the first whistle, has been outstanding for us. That’s all he was anxious about”.
The goals have been shared about the team as a free-flowing side have caught the eye with their passing and movement.
Rangers have rattled in 17 goals in four games so far and none have yet come from headers. “They’re a very, very good side”.
“Teams against Rangers will look to condense the area and look to defend the penalty box so what’s the point in us throwing the ball in”.
