Pedro nabs Baba Rahman’s jersey number
Fellow new arrival Abdul Baba Rahman was initially given that squad number following his arrival in West London earlier in the week, but he has agreed to a switch and will now wear his preffered no. 6 for the new season.
“It’s important because he’s a left-back and he can compete with Azpilicueta”.
“I have made this decision and it is really not easy because I felt good at Augsburg”, the Ghanaian defender told Augsburg’s official website.
The 21-year-old has been one of the top performers at his German club, attempting more crosses than any other player in the Bundesliga during the last season.
His enthusiasm, if perhaps not quite in terms of quality, also translates to the defensive side of his game.
Given the hefty transfer fee paid for such a young player, is he expected to slot straight into the starting lineup, or will he be eased into action?
But right now, something’s definitely a bit rotten. Obviously Chelsea won the Premier League last season and I hope we can repeat that, and do even more.
Baba revealed: “I spoke with both of them and they were very positive about Chelsea. I can’t wait to get started”.
“Thanks to the club and the supporters for giving me the opportunity to put the blue shirt on”.
The former Kotoko and Dreams FC player will have to work hard to break into the Chelsea line-up.
Baba Rahman also claimed that he has joined Chelsea to win trophies and had a message for the Chelsea fans.
