Saif Ali Khan, Katrina Kaif’s ‘Phantom’ to have ‘recreated Punjab’
Bajrangi Bhaijaan has crossed the Rs 300 crore mark at the box office and the filmmaker is gearing for her next, Phantom. I explained to Sham Kaushal, the stunt director that I play an ex-RAW agent, trained adequately for combat. But I would have a problem with her leaving the college and getting into movies. Shewakramani is a good friend of Saif and was also the creative producer of his film “Race 2″.
About his character, he said: “He is terminated from the army as he is accused of cowardice”.
“He accepts as he wants to regain his respect and prove his worth to his father”. Kabir, the production designer and I narrowed down Malerkotla because of its mosque, local people, narrow lanes and overall architecture, which creates the verisimilitude of a town from Pakistan. “The manner in which the shots of Himalayas were taken or the one showing the rugged landscape of India are brilliant since he (Kabir) knows about these things and is interested too”, he said.
Since, the plot focuses on global terrorism, director Kabir Khan required a number of shots with Pakistan as the backdrop. He loved the concepts of both films and the dates are now being sorted out. “For most part of our shoot, I was just hoping no one shoots us”, he added.
The story of Phantom, which will hit theaters on August 28th, is a political thriller set in the volatile climate that exists in South Asia.
