NIA nabs truck driver who helped LeT Terrorist Naveed
“Face and features of one of them are similar to a person in sketches of two suspects released by the NIA recently”, said the superintendent of police, Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad, Himanshu Shukla. While Noman was killed by BSF troopers, Naved took three people hostage from a nearby village and fled into the forests where he was overpowered and captured by the villager and handed over to the security forces.
The NIA is ascertaining whether the truck driver had knowingly or unknowingly helped the two terrorists.
Sources said after Naveed identified the truck driver, the NIA formally arrested Bhat. The driver, identified as Khursheed Ahmed alias “Surya”, said to be an overground operative of the banned LeT, is a resident of Awantipura.
After two days of stay in Kashmir Valley, Naved was taken to Jammu today by road for identifying the places where he had stayed with Momin before the duo left for Udhampur.
“Khurshid has a record of being actively involved in supporting terrorists of Lashkar-e-Toiba and several cases were registered against him”. He will be produced before a special NIA judge on August 24, the day his custody with the anti-terror agency expires.
Two BSF jawans were killed in the August 5 attack.
