Evan Rachel Wood Doesn’t Regret Her Relationship With Marilyn Manson
She may only be 27 but Evan Rachel Wood has already seen the dazzling highs and lows of life in the spotlight.
“I wasn’t doing it to prove a point or be rebellious”, Wood explains. “I feel like your twenties are such a s**t show, I just want to get to 30 and say, ‘I made it!”‘ And that freedom was attractive’.
Wood, now 27, recalled how people would label her as a homewrecker during that time.
Manson and Wood started dating shortly after he broke up with Dita, and though there was no indication that Wood had anything to do with the split, the tabloids assumed that she did. “You build immunity to that sort of thing, but I wasn’t used to negative feedback, so it got to me”. And I pushed away really hard. They dated on and off for about 4 years, and eventually called it quits one year after becoming engaged: unlike anything he’d done before, Manson proposed to her on stage in Paris. Part of me says, ‘Don’t, that’s weird, people are going to stare!’ but then there’s this other voice that says, ‘You’re going to die one day. The couple welcomed their first child together, a baby boy whose name has never been revealed, in July 2013.
The 27-year-old actress split from the “Fantastic Four” actor – with whom she has a two-year-old son – in May 2014 after 19 months of marriage and she admits there is a hole in her heart since they separated.
“Jamie’s lovely. He was the love of my life”, she said. “That’s my life!”‘ However, the bi-sexual star did open about the days when she didn’t fully acknowledged her sexuality. I was expected to handle myself like an adult, but I didn’t have the tools. Now Wood, who is about to celebrate her 28th birthday, is looking back on how those relationships changed her and helped her become the woman she is today.
