Le’Veon Bell: a year ago wasn’t close to my best
Le’Veon Bell believes he’s a “lot quicker, a lot more explosive” than he was in 2014. This year, I’m a lot more confident I’ll be putting up better numbers than I did last year rushing-wise. The distinction typically comes down to personal opinion, but the debate continues to rage on.
The Pittsburgh Steelers’ offensive output could get better without getting bigger, Ben Roethlisberger said. After almost compiling 2,200 all-purpose yards in 2014, Bell inserted himself into such a category with versatility and unique playmaking ability. Previous year wasn’t even close to me being my best.
Teammate Darrius Heyward-Bey certainly thinks so.
To that end, Bell, who, per Fowler, said he compared his 2014 tape to tape of himself during this preseason, believes he can take his game up yet another notch this year thanks to some dropped weight and increased quickness. Nonetheless, it isn’t just his production which makes him stand out, but how he produces for the Steelers which makes him such a unique player and talent.
“A lot of people talk about the season I had previous year”, Bell continued. His dual threat ability puts him among very unique company. Quarterbacks coach Randy Fichtner said about Bell. Sure, Bell is an injury risk because every running back is, even the other ones we’ll all be considering as first-round options, but that’s the point. But when asked where the combination and Bell and Brown ranks with other running back-receiver combos he’s played with, Roethlisberger struggled to find a comparison. Bell’s two-game suspension to start the 2015 season hurts his fantasy football prospects for the full season, and this has caused his ADP in standard leagues to fall to fourth among RBs behind Adrian Peterson, Jamaal Charles, and Eddie Lacy (in that order). Bell, meanwhile, invites former Carolina Panthers underachiever – except for one glorious season a million years ago – DeAngelo Williams to handle the main running back chores for a few weeks, and then crawl back to the bench, where he doesn’t figure to be heard from.
