NC Unemployment Increase Slightly
Palm Beach County’s jobless rate went up to 5.6 percent last month from 5.2 percent in June.
Indiana’s unemployment rate is now significantly lower than the national rate of 5.3 percent and the rates in all surrounding states.
Leading the job growth was the manufacturing sector, which added an estimated 500 new positions for the month.
The state unemployment rate was 2.7 percent last month, up slightly from 2.6 percent in June, according to the state Department of Labor.
On its face, Arizona’s July employment report looks negative.

In July 2015, 17 states had statistically significant over-the-month changes in employment, 16 of which were positive. The Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Labor Department have official data that shows a rate of 5.3%.
Hernando County has the 10th worst unemployment rate of the state’s 67 counties.
The state’s labor force continued the expansion that began in January, but even more people told surveyors they had jobs in June.
Nationally, the unemployment rate was unchanged at 5.3 percent in July.
The unemployment rate in Turlock for July was at 8.4 percent, up from a rate of 8.3 percent in June.
A media article points out that youth unemployment “is more marked amongst “educated” young persons who have often secured a qualification without relevant work experience”. That’s the best rate among all of South Carolina’s metro regions and well below the statewide unemployment average of 6.4 percent last month, down from 6.6 percent in June.
The move up in the unemployment numbers ends a trend that saw the number holding steady of decreasing.
The mining and logging industry lost 100 jobs from July 2014 to July 2015.
“The majority of the industry’s gains in 2015 have exceeded any seen since before the recession”, the news release says.
There have been some announcements of job losses recently, most notably the closing of the Tyson plant in Denison, which leaves 400 people out of work.
