Grass Fire East of Livermore Grows To 500 Acres, Evacuations Underway

Wildfire east of Livermore rages on Thursday morning, burning over 2,500 acres.
A fast-moving grass fire east of San Francisco scorched more than 2,500 acres of dry brush near Livermore. But as weather conditions improved, the fire improved to a twenty-five percent containment level. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Callers first reported the blaze around 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday along both sides of Tesla Road near Corral Hollow Road.
Officials tell news that two hundred fifty-seven fire personnel are on scene. She said the fire had claimed at least one structure, but didn’t know if it was an outbuilding or a residence. No homes or structures are threatened. The area is about 8 miles south of Altamont Pass, and the blaze did not appear to threaten the main travel corridors between the San Joaquin Valley and the Bay Area.
Cal Fire and Alameda County Fire crews will continue to tackle the fire throughout the day, and Temmermand said they are hopeful that cooler weather may aid their efforts. The latest fire map can be seen below.
