George Miller rumoured to direct Man of Steel 2
Now I know what you’re thinking: “Isn’t Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice the Man of Steel sequel?” It isn’t known how their stories will splinter off. For the time being, the entire plot for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hasn’t even been revealed. The production was ultimately shelved while Warners focused on completing the Dark Knight trilogy and developing a new Superman film, but an upcoming documentary about the project, as well as the greatness of Fury Road, has many fans wondering lately about what might have been.
And it’s not just idle speculation either. Schnepp appeared on Popcorn Talk to say that Miller “is doing” a sequel to Man of Steel. The next solo Superman film doesn’t have a release date at this time, but is expected to arrive sometime before 2020.
Man of Steel 2 isn’t yet positioned on Warner’s slate (which is full all the way until 2020) but with Miller attached, it just became much more enticing.
From the rumor mill, occasional filmmaker and The Collider Movie talk host Jon Schnepp has started the apparent rumor. You better believe it.
It’s unclear where “Man Of Steel 2” fits in with the studio’s current plans – they’ve announced a number of movies, including two “Justice Leagues”, “Aquaman“, “Shazam“, “The Flash“, and “Green Lantern Corps“, but nothing solid on a solo Superman picture.
“George Miller is doing Man of Steel 2“.
What’s my problem with DC’s cinematic universe?
More news as it surfaces, but the George Miller news is strictly a rumor at this point. While Miller might be an off the wall choice for some, I personally would be intrigued with the idea of him at the helm of a movie like this, especially with his credentials towards action set-pieces. And I’m guessing if Miller wants to bring the same spirit from Fury Road to the DC movie universe, we’d be talking some big numbers.
