Explosion Stops Shania Twain Concert
Earlier in the week they heard Kelly Clarkson’s impromptu announcement that she was pregnant with her second child, and now there was an underground explosion that created technical difficulties for Shania Twain’s concert.
Country singer Shania Twain had her concert at the Staples Center in L.A. Thursday night briefly interrupted by a power outage.
Still, the veteran kept the show moving – chatting with fans in the audience for approximately five minutes before a secondary power source brought the show back to life . It was pure rock “n’ roll excess, and though Twain is one of the beloved queens of the county music genre, she definitely knows how rock”. Her strength was the recording studio, where she crafted three consecutive albums – 1995’s “The Woman in Me”, 1997’s “Come On Over” and 2002’s “Up!” – that each sold more than 10 million copies in the U.S. alone. Shortly after, her microphone stopped working. “Cool, let’s get a selfie”. The stage lights went off, the house lights came on and the audience was a little confused, as was the singer herself – for a second.
Though the spectacle was fantastic, it was a highlight when Twain simply sat on a stool with her guitar for a trio of softer tracks.
She then resumed the song and the show, proving that yes, she’s “Still The One” and still got it!
Twain switched up outfits again for “From This Moment On”, coming out in a black dress covered by a long, flowing black jacket, an odd choice of wardrobe to pair with what has been a very popular wedding song. To keep things going, she acknowledged a rocket scientist in the crowd to accompany the lyrics of, “OK, so you’re a rocket scientist – that don’t impress me much”.
