Possible tornado near Lake Geneva
The National Weather Service confirms a tornado caused damage in the Lake Geneva area.
A Tornado Watch is in effect until 10 p.m. for Cook, DuPage, Kankakee, Lake, McHenry and Will counties in Illinois and Walworth County in Wisconsin.
NWS survey teams are further review damage caused by the storm.
Radar at the National Weather Service in Sullivan indicated rotation in the system starting in the Lake Geneva area that intensified near Mukwonago and Big Bend.
Sheriff’s deputies said many buildings in a small industrial park were damaged, but no injuries or deaths were reported.
City of Lake Geneva Police patrolled neighborhoods to assess any damage due to the severe thunderstorm and did locate numerous trees down in the Seminary Park and Dunn Field areas.
Highway 120 was shut down between Buckby Road and Highway 12 for electrical power fix for several hours Wednesday morning while energy companies completed repairs.
