Planned Parenthood is focus of national protests

But for the protesters, the issue is a moral one more than it is a legal one.
This morning dozens gathered on the corner of 17th Street to peacefully protest the Wilmington Planned Parenthood facility. “That’s their only interest”, said Dayton Right to Life member Margie Chiristie.
The videos claim to show Planned Parenthood officials discussing the sale of aborted fetuses which prompted several states to investigate the organization and lawmakers to demand the U.S. government stop paying for their non-abortion related services.
Planned Parenthood has come under increasing scrutiny recently due to secretly recorded videos about its role in supplying aborted fetal tissue for medical research. Paul Paulos said they numbered “less than 1,000”.
People who support Planned Parenthood were expected to attend as a counter-protest. “There is no financial benefit for tissue donation for either the patient or for Planned Parenthood“.
“Today’s nationwide demonstrations… underscore the grassroots opposition to Planned Parenthood“. It’s not women’s healthcare.
At 320 clinics across the country, thousands turned out in protest and in prayer. Pro lifers said that’s too much. “The other 97 percent involves STD testing, sex education”, said ARRA representative Stephanie Gilmore over the phone. She didn’t want her last name used. “I’m hoping that this situation will not further undermine the very important services that Planned Parenthood provides across our country”. Demonstrators are demanding Congress cut federal funding for the organization.
“Planned Parenthood’s method of killing and marketing children’s body parts certainly leaves our nation open to judgment”. Planned Parenthood disputed the state’s finding, saying Florida changed its definition of how first trimesters are measured. The group claims the videos show Planned Parenthood staff talking about selling fetal tissue for profit. They say the goal of Saturday’s protests are to raise awareness about the organization and their practices.
