2 officers shot in New York state; suspect killed
Comitale gave chase and the suspect and the officers exchanged gunfire.
The police spokesman did not know how many shots were fired nor how close the officers were to the man when he fired at them.
Two police officers were shot and wounded in Troy, New York, Saturday while investigating an attempted carjacking, police said.
“They’re well-equipped, they’re well-trained, and they’re not complacent and so, as a result of that, the suspect is dead that shot the two officers”, DeWolf said.
Comitale is a seven-year member of the Troy Police Department. Police did not release the names of the police officers or the third person.
Comitale, the first officer on the scene, encountered the suspect in the area and followed him in his patrol auto and as Klein, the backup officer, came into the area, police said.
DeWolf says the officers are in stable condition and are “doing OK”.
One officer was hit in the upper torso and the other in the leg, according to DeWolf, who said the wounds were not considered to be life-threatening.
