BREAKING NEWS: Pepe signs new Real Madrid deal
In an interview with Realmadrid.com and Realmadrid TV, Pepe offered his initial impressions on signing a contract extension that ties him to the club until 30 June 2017.
Pepe’s existing contract was expiring next summer and now he has agreed with the club to extend it by a further year.
Jorge Mendes arrived at the offices of the Santiago Bernabéu on Friday morning together with Portugal defender Pepe to finalize a one-year extension on the player’s contract.
Pepe follows in the footsteps of fellow centre-back Sergio Ramos in penning a new deal with the 10-time European champions. Although he had to miss a few games due to minor injuries, his partnership with Ramos still projects Madrid’s strongest defensive line.
Pepe, 32, who has been linked over recent seasons with a move to English clubs Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United, has prolonged his stay at the Bernabeu club for another two seasons at least.
