1 dead after Swiss air show crash
Two stunt planes have crashed at an air show in Switzerland which was taking place a day after the Shoreham disaster in Sussex.
A pilot has been killed after two small planes had a mid-air collision during an airshow in Switzerland. Nobody else was injured.
One pilot was able to release a rear parachute, allowing the plane to land safely in a nearby garden. The cause of the accident is being investigated, said police in Basel-Landschaft.
Police photos showed debris from the two aircraft scattered in the hillside village of Dittingen.
The formation team has been identified as the German Grasshoppers which fly green single-engine Ikarus C42 airplanes.
A vintage Royal Air Force Hawker Hunter fighter jet crashed into a busy road, killing seven motorists on the ground and injuring more than a dozen.
UK police believe the death toll is likely to rise to 11. Witnesses advised native TV that the jet appeared to have crashed when it failed to tug out of a loop manoeuvr.
