Jake Coker rejoins Alabama QB battle after foot injury
A trainer was in Coker’s ear a few times throughout the practice, but the Alabama quarterback seemed to be moving around fine during the drills.
That progress, along with the results of the first scrimmage, will likely come into play in the second scrimmage on Saturday.
In addition, Zenitz reports that Coker will be sidelined “several days”, according to Saban, with a foot injury which is expected to heal completely. “That’s how it’s going to get decided”.
Saban was specifically asked about Morris and his improvement throughout the offseason. “We’re sort of monitoring that every day”.
The evaluation is ongoing, each quarterback being watched closely as Alabama coaches try to decide on a starter.
Despite his return to practice, there’s no definitive timetable when Sims could see the field in a live game this season and Alabama head coach Nick Saban wasn’t going to hedge his bets on when the 6-foot-5, 210-pound deep threat would return to action fully.
“Parker Barrineau cut his toe in an incident in the shower or the bathroom – some kind of way – hit it on a door or the door fell on it or closed on it or something and actually required surgery to sow it back up”, Saban said.
From a quarterback standpoint, I can’t really say that one guy was better than another. We don’t try to communicate with them all.
