Pappu Yadav slams Lalu, says ‘people in Bihar living at god’s mercy’
The state government said the lift had stopped as it was overloaded. On this, Lalu Prasad Yadav cracked a joke and said that Shah should not have used a small elevator.
“Fat people shouldn’t take lifts”. The steel doors of the lift have been torn a part to get the leaders out.
Earlier this year, Shah announced his party wanted to win 185 of the 243 assembly seats on its own strength. He came to Patna yesterday to participate in a forum organised by a vernacular daily. Shah had landed in the state capital on Thursday with the twin objectives of attending a private function and holding meetings with party officials ahead of the upcoming state polls.
The building has a single elevator manufactured by Kone, a Finnish company, which had been installed around six months ago.
Bharatiya Janata Party president Amit Shah was stuck in an elevator along with three other senior party leaders for about 40 minutes at the State guest house in Patna late on Thursday night. The security personnel who was outside the lift immediately called the toll free number provided in the lift. Shah and the others were pulled up to the first floor. “There was nobody present there to deal with such emergencies despite that a person given Z-plus security cover was staying there”, he alleged. “The mobile phones of those trapped inside were also out of range as they were in a closed box”, BJP state President Mangal Pandey said.
Being fat is not a crime especially when more and more people are slowly getting overweight.
“The lift has got a capacity to carry 340kg. The liftman had left around 10.35pm”, said cabinet secretariat department principal secretary Shishir Sinha. They said it might have well been a “conspiracy” against the party president. Pandey informed all attempts to open the doors of the lift had failed.
