Teenager dies in Donegal vehicle crash
Three men died last evening after a crash on the A1 dual-carriageway in Co Down, bringing to five the numbers killed on Irish roads over the weekend.
The teenager who died had been a passenger in the auto.
The tragic accident occurred at 4:30am Sunday morning.
The survivors were rushed to Letterkenny General Hospital where the teenage girl was described as being in a critical condition.
The 19 year old driver is also being treated for his injuries.
The scene of the incident is not far from where a 23-year-old man, John Hegarty, died in a auto crash on July 12 this year.
Garda forensic experts spent yesterday examining the scene of the crash.
It happened at around 4.30am at Tooban, near Burnfoot, on the main cross-border road between Derry and Buncrana.
A 41-year-old man was killed in Ballinrush, Kilworth, Co Cork, on Saturday at 4pm when his motorcycle collided with a vehicle.
He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to Cork University Hospital for a postmortem. He was a well-known and respected mechanic in the area. “The whole place is devastated”, he said.
Gardai have appealed for witnesses.
