Clamour for Banksy show tickets in Weston-super-Mare

The chances of latecomers grabbing tickets are looking slim, and with the park only open for one month between August and September this year, it’s unlikely that further tickets will be released.

The present takes place inside the confining partitions of a long-abandoned public swimming pool space referred to as the Tropicana – a spot frequented by a younger Banksy earlier than its closure. Rejecting that this is a street art show, the artist says it’s “post-modem” or art with high click potential.

But many are also speculating the ticket misery is all part of the experience of the Dismaland experience.

Though the object of Banksy’s scorn in this particular work seems clear, the artist insists that “It’s not a swipe at Disney“.

Described on the official website as a “festival of art, amusements and entry-level anarchism”, Dismaland is sure to attract a number of visitors, many of whom will aim to understand the mystery and meaning of Banksy’s work.

The theme park reportedly features art by about 50 worldwide artists including Damien Hirst, Bill Barminski, Caitlin Cherry, Polly Morgan and others.

Dismaland spokeswoman Jo Brooks told NBC News’ United Kingdom partner ITV News the site had not crashed, but the error was produced by too many people refreshing the page. He added, “I believe Mr. Banksy was a swimmer in there in his younger days, so I think there could be an extra agenda here”.

He also reported that the dark theme of the Dismaland park is apparent from the very moment one passes through the hoax security. A giant stallion made of scaffolding poles reared its head, a grim, gray fantasy castle popped up and a twisted truck sculpture rolled in to town, reports Mashable. An armored police vehicle replaces a jubilant children’s slide; graffiti and vandalism appears in place of bright, happy signage, and a warped Ariel welcomes guests in front of a dilapidated version of the infamous blue-topped castle.

Tickets for Banksy’s incredibly popular Dismaland exhibition will only be available on the door this weekend, according to the website, giving local residents a great opportunity to go and see the theme park everyone is talking about. As with all his other pieces, the social commentary is clear – there are no fairytales in life, and reality is much harsher than we expect.
