Kovacic: ‘Madrid biggest in the world’

Real Madrid signed Mateo Kovacic upon the recommendation of Luka Modric, who claimed his global colleague would win the Ballon d’Or in two years, reports AS.

Kovacic, who played for the Italian team Inter Milan team, has signed a contract for six seasons.

Mateo Kovacic says he’s joined the “biggest club in the world” after swapping Inter for Real Madrid.

Kovacic was formally presented by Blancos president Florentino Perez, and posed for photographers on the Bernabeu pitch wearing his new No. 16 shirt. With this deal, Inter is investing in the future and I believe, he has a lot of potential.

“It’s not for me to decide my position; that’s up to the coach”.

“Real Madrid does not tire in looking for players with talent who want to wear our badge”.

“I hope I will not disappoint and I can meet all expectations”, he said.

Speaking with the dialect of archrivals Barcelona is probably up there with the worst possible ways of endearing yourself to the Real Madrid faithful, especially as Kovacic had previously been linked with a move to Barca, per Joe Short of the Express.

“As we all know, the team suffered last season when Modric was out injured and he gives us another option”.

After continued success at Inter, he was called into the national team squad and with his good performances for Inter, he was also allowed to play in the Federation Internationale de Football Association World Cup 2014 in group A against Brazil, Cameroon and Mexico. “To be able to share the changing room with such great players, it’s truly an honour”.

And Real were quick to point to his dribbling and passing ability after unveiling him on their official Twitter account. “Inter is a great club and i’m sure that they will be great again soon”.
