Jordy Nelson, Maurkice Pouncey leave Packers-Steelers game with injuries

The Green Bay Packers are a talented bunch, but we expect many of their starters to sit most of this game.

The Steelers will turn to veteran backup center Cody Wallace while Pouncey is out. This isn’t news, as it was the knock on Coates coming out of Auburn, but the Steelers will want to see more consistency out of Coates before he becomes a weekly inactive on game days.

Murphy took a short pass on a crossing route on third down and turned it into a 25-yard gain, giving the Steelers another scoring chance.

2 days ago – On Sunday afternoon, the Green Bay Packers will suit up for their second preseason game of 2015.

Rodgers threw a surprising 19 passes in the preseason opener against New England last week. The Packers’ offense is no joke, and it’s not just in throwing the ball. Then it was Jimmy Garoppolo in relief.

Lacy looks good: Lacy scored the Packers’ first touchdown on a 9-yard run and finished with 30 yards on six carries. They’re winless in preseason so far dropping games to the Vikings and Jaguars. It was ruled incomplete, though, and Green Bay’s challenge did not get the call overturned, so the Steelers punted. Not so with Green Bay. The Steelers finish the preseason with the Panthers and then the team opens the season with two of three on the road. An outside linebacker and University of Michigan product, two of Ryan’s tackles were for losses.

Injuries – One of the worst aspects of the preseason are injuries which occur during these meaningless games.

Pittsburgh quarterback Ben Rothlesberger probably won’t see a lot of playing time either. The early vibe is Seattle is down a bit over past year. But players tear ACLs all the time and still manage to walk off the field. He ahd to be helped up the the Steelers’ medical staff before limping off with a left ankle injury.

The first and most substantial injury was suffered by Maurkice Pouncey. If the Steelers have any hopes of getting a hand on Rodgers, they’ll first need to lock down two stud wide outs long enough to keep the ball in his hands. But once he returns, watch out. Pittsburgh was adequate against the run last season, but didn’t exactly face a murderer’s row of running backs. Feels like it was slow motion. “That’s what I’m most disappointed in”. Overall, I’d estimate 900-plus yards and seven touchdowns, which puts Adams firmly in WR2 territory and knocking on the Top 20 door. This was the first game he and Mike Mitchell played alongside one another in the secondary, and the tandem made steps to quieting concerns about the safety position heading into the regular season. In deep leagues, an occasional touchdown would have been nice, but now, Montgomery is an even better flier. But for now, Sunday presents two of the best quarterbacks in the NFL and a true passing showdown of sorts.
