Oklahoma State Commissioner of Labor Mark Costello was killed
Pam Pollard, with the Oklahoma Federation of Republican Women, has confirmed with NewsChannel 4 that the victim was Oklahoma Labor Commissioner Mark Costello.
Michelle Holland says officers were called to a fast-food restaurant on the city’s northwest side after a stabbing was reported Sunday evening.
Police say Costello was found wounded outside the Braum’s restaurant on May Avenue near Hefner Road around 6:30 p.m.
Costello was first elected in 2010.
Police said witnesses saw the suspect continue stabbing Mark Costello from behind and witnesses pulled Christian Costello off of Mark Costello until authorities could arrive.
Police say, it all began as an argument this morning.
The victim was taken to a nearby hospital where he died, police said.
“Mark was a friend, and as we grieve, we will also pray for his family as they deal with this unbelievable tragedy”, Lankford said in the statement.
“I am deeply saddened by the loss of my dear friend Mark Costello”. According to his official biography from the Oklahoma Department of Labor, he and his wife Cathy were married in 1982 and the couple have five children.
