Nelson Mandela’s grandson rapes child
The bail application of the grandson of former president Nelson Mandela was postponed in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on Friday. Mbuso will remain in the police custody until his formal bail on Friday.
A 15-year-old girl said Mbuso Mandela followed her into a restroom and proceeded to rape her inside one of the stalls. Members of the Mandela family were in the cramped courtroom where Mbuso Mandela, 24, appeared calm as he sat behind his lawyer.
The rape allegedly took place at a restaurant in Greenside a Johannesburg suburb on August. 7 Selepe said. When the bodyguard began asking questions about the alleged rape, the girl’s parents demanded he produce a police badge. “It turns out that he had been sent by Winnie”, the man said. He appeared briefly in court on August. 17 after being charged of the crime. The spokesperson said that “Madikizela-Mandela first asked the girl’s father to hold off on filing charges while her family had time to deal with the issue”.
She further insisted that fair treatment would be given, despite the accused being a Mandela.
The bodyguard then revealed that he was there on behalf of Madikizela-Mandela, who invited them to her Soweto home last Thursday to discuss the matter. Mandela allegedly attacked her inside.
Also, owner of the restaurant where the incident happened is willing to cooperate with the investigation.
There was the family feud over the bones of three of Mandela’s children, which erupted shortly before his death in 2013 and had to be resolved in court.
