Slade hails Cardiff progress after Wolves win
On the day Blackburn boss Gary Bowyer was handed that unwanted tag, Slade’s confident Cardiff City team sent out a statement to the whole division with an impressive 2-0 win against widely fancied Wolves.
Carl Ikeme was restored in goal but his blunder led to Cardiff’s opening goal, with Jones nodding over the goalkeeper who got nowhere near a left-wing cross.
But Jones’ header on the stroke of half time and Ameobi’s deflected strike provides hope for some as Cardiff look for a more consistent promotion challenge this time round.
“Everybody thought I would be down the road by the end of August I guess”, said Slade, who confirmed Jones would undergo tests to determine the extent of his injury.
Whatever line up Slade, and how bad this virus is, goes with expectancy will be high however ahead of the game we’re looking for your views on what way you think it will go, which obviously requires you to vote in the latest poll one of three ways…
“It was pretty even in the first period but we managed to draw first blood which is important”.
Wolves, however, had little cause for such positivity after failing to register a shot on target during the 90 minutes as they suffered a second-straight defeat.
“The stats show we did not have a shot on target and that tells its own story”.
Wolves could make changes after the defeat with Liverpool starlet Seyi Ojo and defender Ethan Ebanks-Landell, two players tipped to come in.
Craig Noone will be setting his sights on picking up his first league start of the season after impressing in previous appearances off the bench.
