Louisiana State Trooper Shot During Traffic Stop
Col. Mike Edmonson, the head of state police, said the trooper was conducting a traffic stop in the Lake Charles area.
The trooper’s health and identity will be elaborated by state police at some point Sunday, he said.
Edmonson, head of the state police, arrived in Calcasieu Parish Sunday evening, where he visited with Vincent’s family.
“Edmonson said he won’t forget the words Daigle said to the trooper as he was lying on the pavement for quite a while”. The vehicle was found in a ditch.
That driver wrestled the shotgun away from Daigle, and, with the others, got him to the ground, and snapped Vincent’s handcuffs on his wrists, Edmonson said. James Anderson spokesman for Troop D.
Steven Vincent, a 13-year state police veteran in southwest Louisiana and member of a law enforcement family was wounded during a struggle after Kevin Daigle headed to the side of the road.
Daigle exited his truck and walked to Vincent, speaking to him and asking him if he was still alive, Edmonson said.
As he ended the interview, he said, “Prayers”.
The accused shooter is believed to have been impaired during the incident, and is also in the hospital.
Trooper First Class Steven Vincent, 43, was shot during a traffic incident near Bell City Sunday afternoon.
“As I understand it, they rendered aid to the trooper, they called for help using the trooper’s radio, and they detained the suspect”, said Sgt.
