Seconds of Summer’s Michael Clifford Opens Up About Mental Health on Tour
Earlier this week, 5 Seconds Of Summer’s Michael Clifford revealed he was dealing with a mental health issue.
Luke, however, added gleefully, “I’m happy to if he gives us a call!”
Quick as it was, Michael’s comments soon inspired an influx of supportive tweets from 5SOS fans who applauded his transparency using the hashtag #WeLoveYouMichael, which soon trended worldwide.
Mental illness affects one in four people – which means that you definitely know someone struggling right now – so it’s wonderful that Michael took the time to be open about his struggles. “We’re going to play another song if it’s okay?”
Clifford didn’t go into much detail. “Michael says in this video that hes been seeing a therapist for his mental health issues”.
Clifford’s fans were quick to show their support for him on Twitter this week after his on-stage admission.
Clifford’s confession about seeing a mental health therapist comes after a similar revelation by bandmate Ashton Irwin.
While talking to Sydney Morning Herald in June, Irwin said he had “dealt with anxiety and depression in my life” and hoped the the band’s music will help youngsters deal with their problems. “I walked into an open flame”. I thought I’d lost my sight.
“It takes real balls to openly show your vulnerabilities”.
