Young woman teased on busy intersection; no one comes to her rescue
He started verbally abusing her on the road and challenged her to complain against him. She was heckled at by the man in West Delhi’s Tilak Nagar at around 8 pm on Sunday. More shocking was the fact that when the guy was confonted and the girl told him that she is clicking his picture, he responded by posing for the picture and said- “Jo kar sakti hai kar le”. “Complaint karke dikha, fir dekhiyo kya karta hun main” (Do whatever you can, File A Complaint And Then See What I’ll Do To You). The girl then took to Facebook to post the man’s photograph while mentioning his alleged crime and the insensitive behaviour of other commuters.
The girl said that his obscene comments were heard by at least 20 other commuters standing nearby at the traffic signal, but no one stood up for her.
When Kaur said that she will complaint against him, the abuser posed for a picture and asked her to go ahead.
The man in question threatened her of dire consequences if she chose to approach police for help.
In just 14 hours of posting the picture, an FIR registered under sections 354(a), 506 and 509. The incident took place around 8 pm on Sunday at a busy traffic intersection in Tilak Nagar. The offender as riding a silver Royal Enfield with the number DL 4S CE 3623. Yes, no one minded.
And although a few weeks back, there was the case of Delhi police allegedly refusing to book an eve teaser, which was widely shared on Facebook, this woman decide to both lodge a complaint and use social media to spread the word. No one intervened. No one stood up for me.
Complainant Jasleen Kaur has filed a police complaint against the accused along with his photograph and bike number.
