Alcohol to be sold at Florida gun range; commissioners approve it nearly
Though the indoor 12-lane gun range and upscale restaurant will be in the same building, there will apparently be a sufficient amount of physical space between the two, The Daytona Beach News-Journal reported.
“I firmly believe that it will be safer than any restaurant in Florida”. But he says he needs alcohol sales to make the restaurant profitable.
But all customers will be required to sign an affidavit stating they are not under the influence of drugs or alcohol before they can fire their weapons at one of 12 gun lanes.
While submitting the proposal, business owner Ron Perkinson and partner Edward Staudt went over the measures they would take to ensure safety and order was maintained in their store.
Shooting after drinking will be strictly prohibited, and each person who dines and drinks will first have to submit to a mandatory ID scan, which will advise the staff if they have purchased any alcoholic drinks.
People will reportedly be allowed to bring their own guns, or rent them on-site. However, he anticipates gun owners heading over to the restaurant after they shoot, not before.
It’s not as if Perkinson doesn’t understand the potential dangers of mixing a bar with a gun range, but he insists, according to Mediaite, that he only wants to “give you a nice meal before you go home”. Everything is going to be revolved around safety.
He said he plans to have his business up and running the second week of November. He also plans to keep a watch list for potentially troublesome customers, and will have constant access to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement database.
Initially, the planning board balked at the idea of selling booze where there’s a firing range.
