A third-year student of a top DU college took a photo of the man who allegedly passed obscene comments at her, even as dozens of commuters reportedly remained mute spectators to the abuse.
The woman said, “I was at the Tilak Nagar around 8:30 PM on Sunday and this person was crossing the signal and I was right in front of his vehicle and was about to get hurt. I wasn’t ok with it and I took his picture and when I did he remarked ‘lelo picture, complaint karke dikhao, phir dekhna main kya karta hoon”.
On Facebook, a woman in Delhi has alleged that a man abused her on the road and then challenged her to complain against him after “posing” for her mobile phone camera.
The man in question threatened her of dire consequences if she made a decision to approach police for help.
“We have registered an FIR against the biker under sections 354(a), 506 and 509 of the Indian Penal Code”.
The woman says what disturbed her “more than his obscene remarks” was that at a traffic signal, “20 other people heard what he was saying and no one minded, no one intervened”.
In a recent case, a girl had to face obscene and lewd comments near a red light in Tilak Nagar.
“When I told him that im clicking his picture and i’m going to file a complaint against him, he responded by posing for the picture and said- ‘Jo kar sakti hai kar le”. The offender as riding a silver Royal Enfield with the number DL 4S CE 3623.
The police have registered a complaint of sexual harassment and will give her a Rs 5,000 reward for being fearless . “No one stood up for me”, the complainant said.
Complainant Jasleen Kaur has filed a police complaint against the accused along with his photograph and bike number. Delhi Commission for Women chairperson Swati Maliwal also supported her and is set to meet her on Monday.
