Falcons WR Roddy White to have minor surgery on elbow
Matt Ryan will be without his No. 2 receiver for the remainder of the preseason schedule.
While White is slated to undergo minor surgery on his right elbow Monday, coach Dan Quinn indicated that the wideout will not miss the Falcons’ September 14 season opener against the Eagles, ESPN.com reports.
Atlanta Falcons head coach Dan Quinn reacts to his team’s play…
White, 33, has had a myriad of injuries over the last two seasons with ankle, shoulder and hamstring issues causing him to miss five games and breaking his streak of six straight 1,000-yard receiving seasons. Hankerson had a 2-yard touchdown catch against the New York Jets while continuing to thrive under offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan whom he worked with in Washington. Quarterback Matt Ryan praised Hardy for his work ethic and ability to pick up the offense so far in the league. His injury opens up a chance for receivers such as Justin Hardy and Nick Williams to get more playing time and possibly earn a spot on the 53-man roster.
