ITV News: Iraqi jet accidentally bombs Baghdad neighbourhood
Another bombing near a bus stop killed three people in Baghdad’s northwestern district of Shulla.
This has led to sectarian tension in the region that threatens to spill into all-out civil war.
It added: “During its return journey to base, a bomb fell on three homes in New Baghdad [east of the capital], leading to material and human losses”. This year’s Ramadan was the most violence since 2007, with 671 people killed. “I went outside of the shop and I could hardly see because of the smoke”. Two guards were killed and five others wounded in the attack.
“The terrorists who committed these acts are enemies of Islam and a shared enemy of the United States, Iraq, and the worldwide community”, the statement said.
The third bomb explosion struck a checkpoint, manned by pro-government forces, in the same town.
Military spokesman Brig. Gen. Saad Maan Ibrahim told The Associated Press a technical failure caused the jet to drop the bomb, which hit houses in the Iraqi capital’s eastern neighborhood of New Baghdad.
Police say a man fell to his death from a sixth-floor Manhattan balcony after apparently sitting on the edge and losing his balance.
The Islamist group now controls Ramadi, a large city in central Iraq that is around 70 miles from the capital city of Baghdad.
Meanwhile, an IS militant blew up an explosive-laden bulldozer near Haditha, killing seven Iraqi soldiers in one of a wave of bomb attacks on the northwestern town on Monday, a police source said.
Officials said that the blast, which occurred near the Rasheed air base, also wounded at least 11 people.
