Monsoon Takes Break So Tibetans Can Celebrate Dalai Lama’s Birthday | WPRL

In more celebrations there Monday, school children and community groups performed traditional dances and sang cultural songs, while other followers placed three-tiered cakes and platters of candies and fruit before images of the crimson-robed 14th Dalai Lama.

The summit was held in recognition of the Dalai Lama’s “lifetime of devotion to the work of spreading the message of the value of peace, kindness and universal compassion throughout the world”. Even as you are listening to his tips for happiness intently, the Lama starts to talk about the art of farting in an airplane!

The middle-path policy, followed by the spiritual leader, seeks greater autonomy for Tibet rather than complete independence.

The Tibetan government-in-exile, on this occasion, expressed hope that the Chinese leadership would continue the dialogue process with the envoys of the spiritual leader.
