Off-Duty Police Officer Identified In Roxborough vehicle Accident

Authorities say an off-duty Philadelphia police sergeant was killed when his pickup truck struck a large tree.

Ali’s truck travelled about 150 feet down a center median in a curve before crashing into the tree at about 11:45 p.m., investigators said. He was taken to Einstein Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

“At this point there is no indication that alcohol played a part in this crash, however, speed may have been a factor”, police said in a statement.

Captain John Wilczynski of the Accident Investigation Division said there were no skid marks at the crash scene, so it’s possible the driver simply fell asleep.
