Bills sell 60000 season tickets for first time
It is thus not all that surprising that people who follow the Cleveland Browns and Buffalo Bills are looking forward to watching Thursday’s exhibition contest featuring those two sides that have been known for losing for years.
Coach Rex Ryan has said he may wait up until the start of the season to name his starter, a move that likely aims to keep the Indianapolis Colts guessing.
Matt Cassel has looked solid in a Bills uniform and although he sat out the Bills second game against the Browns, he has gone 7 of 8 from the pocket, completing 87.5% for 45 yards and a 90.1 QBR.
Suffice to say, the offensive line will have to pave holes for the running game to start churning.
“I think they’ve had a fair shake all the way through camp, I don’t think there’s any doubt about that”, said Ryan. There isn’t one set quarterback, which has led to inconsistency, there have been a tremendous rash of injuries at the skill positions, and the Buffalo defense is outstanding and has made things pretty tough for the guys in the white shirts.
The Bills will mount the graphic in the tunnel at Ralph Wilson Stadium so players can see it before they enter the playing field. “He’s got to look at himself across the league at the peers at his position and if he wants to be something special he’s got to play better than any of those guys”.
He was not limited in practice Saturday and hopes to play next week against Pittsburgh.
In most cases, NFL teams will play the whole regular season and never once use their No. 4 ball carrier … if they even have one on the active roster.
“I was with Ray in Baltimore [and] I really liked him when I was there”, Ryan said.
Ryan and the Bills also caught a break with the weather.
“I can’t believe the weather as we’ve gone through training camp, knock on wood, we haven’t missed anything”, said Ryan. Fortunately, Sammy and Woods are back to practice, a sight Rex Ryan is more than happy to see.
There is only one more session, and that runs from 10 a.m.to noon Tuesday.
Running back LeSean McCoy had a less than amicable exit from Chip Kelly’s Philadelphia Eagles as he was traded to the Buffalo Bills in exchange for Kiko Alonso.
Where he stands in the Bills quarterback competition is anyone’s guess but he certainly has not done anything to jeopardize his standing with the team.
