Crews search for missing 10-year-old boy in Utah
A missing 10-year-old boy was found Monday, nearly 30 hours after he wandered off into the rugged terrain of Utah’s High Uintas Wilderness.
Malachi and his family, from from the Wasatch Front, had been camping near Paul Lake above Paradise Park Campground, when he disappeared around 10.30am Sunday. However, according to the “Malachi Bradley Rescue Effort” Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/malachibradleyrescue/timeline), the family noted early Monday morning that volunteers were not needed.
Malachi Bradley was hugging his family – who asked not to be otherwise identified – after they were reunited Monday afternoon, NBC station KSL of Salt Lake City reported.
We have a crew on the way to the search command post and will bring you updates as soon as they come into our newsroom.
Search crews, assisted by a helicopter and ATVs, are looking for Malachi.
Authorities say the boy had a coat and a backpack with him.
“We’re hoping he had something in the pack that could help him through the night”, Norton said.
Uintah County Sheriff Vance Norton said that the boy’s dad had told his son what to do if he got lost.
His family said he was well-dressed for the weather.
“It’s like finding a needle in a haystack”, he said.
His son also went missing in late August, and a snowstorm hit the area within days, he said.
