‘Labour has under-estimated me’ – Jeremy Corbyn
Membership of Aylesbury’s Labour party has doubled since the general election and there are more than 500 people here who are registered to vote in the contest.
It came after his Blairite leadership rival Liz Kendall has signalled a willingness to join the group set up by Chuka Umunna and Tristram Hunt which has reportedly dubbed “the resistance” in party circles.
“I am like Mr Corbyn a socialist, and we do share similar values”.
Ms Cooper received the backing of Sarah Brown, the wife of former prime minister Gordon Brown, who at the weekend issued a thinly veiled warning to the party not to elect Mr Corbyn.
“I don’t have a problem with Jeremy Corbyn and I agree with a lot of what he says, but I think Andy is the one who can help us win an election and do something for ordinary people in the country and East Lancashire”.
Andy Burnham will reconnect the Labour party with young voters, according to a local supporter. It is going to be an interesting discussion’.
“But then they have got to make a decision whether they want to be part of a Labour movement which produced a political party to seriously contest democratic power or they want to be in perpetual demonstration, which is fulfilling and noble but ultimately rarely effective”. It is easy to imagine that if left-wingers behaved in such a way they would be condemned as wreckers and their loyalty to the party would be questioned.
But in a sign of the veteran MP’s polarising effect, the same survey also found he was the contender rated as having the best chance of improving Labour’s fortunes.
It will be the candidates’ final TV debate as voting in the most unpredictable Labour leadership race in years closes exactly a week later. “That’s slightly odd”.
Lord Kinnock, who has backed Mr Burnham, warned the party it must not become “self-indulgent” and said the new leader’s focus must be on “collecting the votes of a doubting public”.
Burnham said: “I was the representative that day from a very out-of-touch government who had not been listening for years”.
The 36-year-old says she by and by battled her general decision crusade in Grimsby “on a message of trust” for the future and a requirement for the town to grasp new commercial enterprises. “If I’m invited I would certainly go along”.
Burnham, speaking of Miliband, said: “He said something that Labour people have not said for as long as I can remember – he said the gap matters”.
Earlier, Mr Corbyn was forced to admit associating with Lebanese extremist Dyab Abou Jahjah but insisted he had no recollection of their meetings.
However, some reports suggest that mainstream Labour MPs are planning a coup against him if he does manage to win the Labour leadership race.
