Gurley cleared to practice with Rams
Roughly nine months after tearing his ACL, Rams first-round pick Todd Gurley has been cleared to return to the field. Now, he’ll be able to go through the 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 sessions.
Fantasy impact: Gurley won’t play in the preseason and the Rams plan on holding him out of the first couple games of the regular season. “He had a blast in the warm-ups last night”.
Fisher said he’d be patient with Gurley, rehabbing from left knee surgery that ended his college career. That includes not playing him in preseason games, and Fisher said that hasn’t changed.
“You usually have something”, Fisher said.
Gurley is an explosive athlete who gives the Rams’ backfield the big-play potential they now lack, but they’ll have to monitor his surgically repaired knee before we have any idea of when we’ll see him in action.
There was plenty more to come out of Fisher’s Monday press conference.
Rookie guard Cody Wichmann (calf) was cleared to return from the physically unable to perform (PUP) list. “We’ll have some normalcy to our week”.
The defense that’s expected to carry the team had some holes, too. Whether it’s Week 5 or Week 1, 10 years from now nobody is going to remember what you did the first five games.
St. Louis Rams quarterback Nick Foles runs off the field after the… “That wasn’t a good decision by Nick”.
“He’s had a great camp and [I have] no concerns whatsoever”, Fisher continued. “It’s coming. We saw a lot of good things out of our offense against the Cowboys”.
