Weekend weather: Red flag fire warning in effect Saturday
Yesterday’s National Weather Service forecast for the weekend looked pretty gloomy, what with the Hazardous Weather Outlook and all.
The fog that blanketed much of the northern two-thirds of the state began to dissipate after the sun rose at 6:15 a.m, the weather service said.

Sunday will be mostly sunny, with a high near 85. North wind 3 to 7 miles per hour. Areas of smoke. Sunny, with a high near 88. North wind 6 to 11 miles per hour becoming light north northwest after midnight.
The expected high for Friday is 104 degrees. South wind 3 to 5 miles per hour. The high is projected to be 104 degrees, and the winds are once again expected to stay calm near 7 miles per hour. Monday: Sunny, with a high near 86. West northwest wind 5 to 10 miles per hour.
The updated and revised forecast for Saturday now calls for sunny skies in Rockland County. Southwest wind 5 to 8 miles per hour.
Thursday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 62.
