Aston Villa are back in action this evening when they host Notts County in the second round of the League Cup. Most recently they played Crystal Palace in the Premier League and lost 2 – 1.
“If I can get back in, then one, somebody has got to want you and two, it has to be right for myself”.
“It’s a work in progress”.
“If we can get through this season unscathed, it’s one hell of a young side and an exciting team for the future”.
“Everyone knows in cup games anything can happen”. I know their manager Ricardo Moniz very well.
“We will try to go there and win“, said the former Tottenham coach, who came across Villa boss Tim Sherwood during his time at White Hart Lane. “I’ve not seen many players of that age being able to do that and look so comfortable with a football”.
No doubt it’s a hard game, yet it was one I and my friend Joe Jones wanted after we had knocked out Huddersfield and I believe Villa will see a good game from Notts. Yet I can say one thing, Villa fans should be impressed by the backing us supporters give and it will be an impressive night for all.
An embarrassing exit at the hands of a team from a lower division was an all too regular occurrence under Paul Lambert, with the likes of Bradford City, Milwall, Leyton Orient and Sheffield United booting Villa out of both the FA and League Cups.
“He’s not the finished article”.
“We will add, if there’s any money and if we can find someone who is better”, Sherwood said.
“That’s where everybody wants to be and everyone wants to play, at Premier League standard”. I think that’s a realistic target for us so I don’t see the competition as a distraction at all.
I always felt even when relegation was looming, Notts needed to have a clear out but I wanted us to at least keep 11 or so players. The striker is short of match sharpness having not featured so far this campaign for his previous club Crawley.
