Microsoft Office 2016 Might Launch September 22
Microsoft released Office 2016 for Mac in 139 countries and 16 languages around the globe in July, before launching the Office Mobile apps towards the end of same month. The Office 2016 suite has been specifically designed for touchscreen users in mind, basically anyone on a smartphone, tablet or computer with a touchscreen monitor. Now, it seems, the rest of the computing world only has about a month left before it will have access to Office 2016.
According to a leaked memo acquired by WinFuture.de, the company has asked its employees to start using the public preview of Office 2016 and keep track of readiness, training and marketing material related to the product prior to the release on the 22nd of September.
The text promises “updates for Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook, Skype for Business, Project, Visio, Access, and Publisher”, and goes on to promise Skype for Business and Office 365 E5 launches in (fiscal) Q2.
As Microsoft’s cloud business becomes more profitable, the company continues to focus on giving its software life off premises. “However the “Cloud” option was given with earlier version MS Office 2016 for Mac and ‘Tell Me” is a new search tool, that is added for document searching. Office 2013 also comes with 15GB of online storage as well as online sync with a OneDrive account to store important files. Word 2016 will also bring real-time co-authoring, which allows multiple people to view and edit a document simultaneously. The report also claims to have sources inside Microsoft who provided them with a leaked screenshot of the company’s intranet site.
