Illinois woman behind viral video talks to 13 WREX
One of the few examples available is in the videotape and transcript of her meeting with Black Lives Matter protesters in New Hampshire last week. She says they should be standing up for the innocent victims who are killed every night in the streets of St. Louis.
Her main frustration is that a nine-year-old black girl was killed in a drive-by shooting, but no one cared, and at the same time, protesters rioted after someone who reportedly pointed a gun at cops was shot by the police.
Her six minute video on her Facebook page comes in response to the police shooting of an 18-year-old St. Louis teen and the swift call to protest alleged brutality by officers.
Activists from the movement met privately with former Secretary of State and Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton earlier this month after they arrived late to a rally and were barred from entering the venue.
“Those actions were inexcusable and they should be prosecuted to deter such acts in the future”, Carson says, while adding that “unjust treatment from police did not fill our inner cities with people who face growing hopelessness”.
The Black Lives Matter movement has more than its fair share of detractors and some of the most vocal critics hail from the Fox News side of things.
‘A little girl is dead. You say black lives matter?
“The notion that some lives might matter less than others is meant to enrage”.
The minister asked: Where was Black Lives Matter in Chicago, in Baltimore and in Ferguson when 9-year-old Jamyla Bolden was shot to death in her own home? I was born and raised there by a single mother with eight kids.
If you understand why that remark would be factual, yet also, fatuous, silly, patronizing and off point, then you should understand why “All lives matter” is the same.
Imagine for a moment that you broke your left wrist. That anger is distracting us from what matters most. You’re yelling “F” the police. Poor “so and so” he died due to police brutality. You’re tearing up communities over thugs and criminals. In excruciating pain, you rush to the emergency room for treatment only to run into a doctor who insists on examining not just your mangled left wrist, but your uninjured right wrist, rib cage, femur, fibula, sacrum, humerus, phalanges, the whole bag of bones that is you. They just think it won’t be fun, as this letter in the Star Tribune today notes. They’re not going to give you a cookie and sing you a lullaby.
