‘Jackass’ star Steve-O faces jail sentence following ‘big dangerous’ SeaWorld
“Jackass” star Steve-O will face five criminal charges after he climbed a crane in Hollywood to protest SeaWorld and drew dozens of emergency responders to a construction site earlier this month.
He’s looking at up to 4-and-a-half years for the charges, including creating a false emergency, the use of unregistered fireworks, storing and possession of fireworks without a permit and trespassing, according to the City News Service. The first four charges carry a maximum sentence of one year in county jail and a $1,000 fine.
Prosecutors are working with police and fire department officials to determine how much restitution will be sought, Meteljan said Tuesday. The stuntman live-streamed the entire stunt online.
That jumper, however, turned out to be Glover, who alerted his Twitter followers and Facebook fans the previous day about his plans to carry out a public stunt in opposition to SeaWorld’s treatment of killer whales and other sea life.
Police are said to have slammed the star for “wasting officers’ and firefighters’ time” but he has failed to apologise for his actions.
Steve-O is due to appear in court in L.A. on 31 August (15). The crews deployed air cushions beneath the crane in case a person fell from the crane.
“For God’s sake, get a pair of binoculars”, he said.
He was previously cited in December for adding the word “Sucks” to a freeway sign for SeaWorld outside San Diego.
