WWE Monday Night Raw Shocker: Sting Returns To Confront The Authority
In the final segment of Monday Night Raw on August 24, 2015, The Authority went to unveil a new statue of Seth Rollins. He did this by pinning the now former WWE U.S. Champion, John Cena.
Sting wasted little time getting to work as Triple H and Stephanie fled the ring, taking a beating to Rollins. “So now we’re in this problem”. That’s what he wants, right?
That shouldn’t preclude Sting and Rollins from putting on a good match, however.
Seth Rollins as the United States champion should be a short-lived experiment by the WWE.
It is a bit surprising the company isn’t teasing a match between Sting and The Undertaker.
The WWE could very well play it straight and have one of these two men leave the Toyota Center with a clean victory. The Authority which originated in SummerSlam 2013 when Triple H helped Randy Orton win the World Title.
The other potential solution is to have Seth Rollins defend both titles in separate matches.
But Sting had other plans. It didn’t make much sense for his old adversary Triple H to give him a title shot, but WWE don’t care about logic when it comes to creative. The Irish Superstar recently tried to cash-in on Rollins on RAW, but his plans were foiled by Randy Orton. The Dudley Boyz returned earlier in the night, Ric Flair and Jon Stewart appeared, and a new member was added to the Wyatt Family.
Steph and Triple H quickly got out of the ring. The wrestling network has announced its first confirmed match up for the event – Seth Rollins vs Sting.
