Bengaluru Bulls roar into Pro Kabaddi final
The Bulls can hardly afford any letup against U Mumba, who have three fine raiders in Anup, Shabeer Bapu and Rishank Devadiga and a good defense led by Jeeva Kumar.
The Star Sports Pro Kabaddi caravan made its final stop of the group stage in the cultural capital of Maharashtra – Pune. The final, scheduled at 9:00 pm, would be preceded by the 3rd-4th placings game between losing semi finalists Telugu Titans and Patna Pirates.
The Pune leg kicked off with the home team facing Dabang Delhi at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex and completing their second win of the tournament.
The momentum had swung their way and there was a point towards the end where we felt that we could lose.
The match dubbed as the dress rehearsal of the final kicked things off on the third day of the leg. U Mumba were handed only their second loss of the campaign by the Telugu Titans. Patna Pirates are all out for the second time in the match.
U Mumba defeated the Bulls by 13 points in their first round clash here and then by seven points in Bengaluru 10 days ago. The next 15 minutes were dominated by the Bulls with Dharamaraj Cheralathan (nine points), Ajay Thakur (eight) and Chhillar (eight) proving to be a handful for the Telugu defence. Sandeep Narwal and Suresh Kumar starred for the Pirates as they set up a virtual quarter-final with Jaipur courtesy of a 38-21 win. Patna Pirates have no clue how to take command of the game. But it is better because we have a strong team and that is what makes a great team.
This high-octane first semifinal match of Pro Kabaddi League 2015 will surely entertain the fans of U Mumba and Patna Pirates.
Manjit nipped the Telegu come back as he not only gained a crucial point in the last minute but also ensured that the opponents could only get one point in their last raid of the match.
In another semi-final, Telugu Titans, who finished second in the league table behind U Mumba, will cross swords with Bengaluru Bulls, who seem to hold a slight edge, having won both their league clashes against their Hyderabad rivals.
The Pune leg was one of the most entertaining legs in the season and the culmination of the leg sees the league shift to Mumbai for the playoffs and the final.
